[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_EfniTmakQ]There was a time when advertising was solely aimed to promote the product as such describing every benefit and advantage of the product or service.Now, the modern day advertising is quite different from what advertising was a couple of decades ago.The evolution of advertising has definitely made significant changes in the way advertisements are made these days.Broadly, we can classify the growth and evolution of advertisements into four stages.Stage one was the plain advertising stage where the advertising was strictly about the product/service and its benefits.Nothing more than that and nothing less than that.The second era of advertisements involved a celebrity add on to the product.Whatever be the product or service, advertisers would find a lead lady celebrity and then make her pose in lingerie and advertise the product.This was a successful strategy for years before people realized that those celebrities actually don’t use those products themselves.The third stage of advertisements was where the competitive products and services were targeted.Rather than giving out the advantages and benefits of their products and services, advertisements showed the pits and drawbacks of the fellow competitive services.The series of Pepsi and Coke advertisements a couple of years ago is an perfect example for this.The present day advertising is more of a truthful and yet indirect means of advertising.It is not boasting about the features and advantages of the product or service, but to tell them all that it is in a more creative manner.The creative manner goes to the extent of even producing teasers which will not reveal the product or service for a couple of weeks and then let people know.
